Size: 243.4 KB lake catamount, at 6,800 feet near steamboat springs, colorado. i was lucky enough to be a member of this private 500 acre fishing lake for 13 years. it was stocked with rainbow, brown, cutthroat, and brook trout and northern pike in the river below the dam. lake record was a 13 1/2 pound brown. my bests were a 8 1/2 pound brown and a 8 1/2 pound rainbow. fishing was trolling a black wooly bugger fly or casting an inline rooster tail spinner.

So hard to just pick one!!......But, Slow Ride Stu was kind enough to invite me to his "home" lake in Clearmont for a chilly day of crappie fishing about 6 years ago,.....maybe more.
I could regale you with a really detailed, and long fish story, but needles to say, it was one of the most memorable days I've spent on the water.....The name of the lake will not be mentioned out of respect And to Stuart, I haven't seen or spoken with you in a while, but trust in the fact that I am ever thankful and I often reflect on that day!!!!.......Thank You

Best place I ever fished hands down was Cocodrie La. Best bream fishing was in a small pond in South Carolina. Best flounder fishing was on Parris Island(brother in law was a corpsman in Navy and had permission) best Crappie fishing was in Bayou Pigeon in La and best catfishing was Black Bayou in Morganza La. Florida has some great fishing but those places have some great memories tied to them I can never forget.

I have had many very good days, and not just with Crappie. Sometimes the planets align and the fishing just goes off the scale. One I can remember clearly was a late February/early March trip with Mason Fisher, a friend in TN. He had never deep jigged for crappie and I took him on a rare day that the temps went to 60*+ after a just above freezing start to the day. Once he paid attention to the details and the learning curve was past, we went thru over 3 limits of fish very close to or over a pound in 3 hours in the middle of the day. Very hard to beat a day like that. Mason hasn't forgiven me yet for not letting him take my limit home, but he was held to 15 and had a large smile when he went home.

Doesn't get any better than finding bream beds in the st John's river... Mostly around lemon bluff.... Some monster fighting gills .. Always look forward to that time of year! Been fishing the st. John's my whole life!
Thanks for stirring the pot catfish....
