    Default flaming gorge lake trout

flaming gorge reservoir, utah/ wyoming. the best lake trout lake in the united states. pictures of my lady friend jean's 37 pounder and myself holding mere 18 and 20 pounders. my best a 29 pounder. my friend luke a 34 pounder. the lake record is about 55 pounds as i recall. fish are hooked in 100 to 120 feet of water vertical jigging or very slow trolling one ounce white or black rabbit hair jigs. the lake is 90 miles long, a damning of the green river. the name flaming gorge comes from the beautiful reds, greens and browns shown on the cliffs by the setting sun. LAKE POWELL, UTAH. part of a 7 day fishing trip on 190 mile long lake powell in the 1990's. 13 of us towed, and ran, our 11 fishing boats to a sandbar 50 miles down the lake where we beached on a sandbar. ran a week long fishing contest all species/ largest fish which i won with a 9 1/2 pound striped bass. winnings paid for my trip. all week we just fished, played cards, and drank beer. the best part of the trip was being on the most beautiful lake i have ever fished on.Name: IMG_20180424_060841.jpg

LAKE POWELL,UTAH. part of a 7 day fishing trip on 190 mile long lake powell. 13 of us rod, and towed, 11 fishing boats 50 miles down the lake to a sandbar in red canyon where we beached our rented houseboat. we did nothing but fish, play card, and drank beer the whole week. we ran a 7 day fishing contest all species/ heaviest weight. i won it with a 9 1/2 lb. striped bass. the win pad for my trip. but, the best part was being on the most beautiful lake i ever fished. Those are all some fine fish and beautiful scenery, but I'm surprised to find so few references to the Florida success stories under the Florida forum. It's hard to beat the resources that Florida has to offer be it salt or freshwater. I've fished as far north as Little Bay de Noc in Lake Michigan and have enjoyed many others in between, but it is hard to beat the great experiences I've enjoyed here in Florida. The Kissimee Chain alone has produced some fantastic catches/memories, along with many other areas, in my lifetime. The St. Johns and the Big "O" have and still do produce some fine catches and scenery qualify for many. Good to see so many members sharing pictures of their outings. Thanks
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.

Tough thing to answer. A trip with 6 limits of hog 'eyes on L. Erie. Almost sunk the boat with white bass on Wolf R., WI. Crappie on fly popper on almost every cast on my home river. Biggest Crappie ever on L. Woodruff, FL. 6 man limit of Kings on L. Michigan. A cooler full of Slab 'gills on July 4 in a 12' jon sloshed all day by pleasure boats. A short two hour, multi-species bonanza on fly poppers in August in the home river. I can't pick.
