Leach Lake, Minnesota 58 years ago with my father and mother and aunt and uncle. Chesapeake Bay was great also was stationed at NAS Pax River for 12 years. You know it is hard to say one spot is better then another I have fish a lot of them in the last 71 years. Don

Dad's favorite spot has always been a special one. I always share the location for others to enjoy, Dad taught me never keep a good spot secret, then others will share their good spots with you.

My best days were not when I caught the most fish but when I was in just the right mood to enjoy being outside. As far as lakes go it has to be Truman after they first opened it to fishing. I could go on a weekday and have a whole arm of the lake to myself and almost always catch fish. The best day was when I paddled up one of the small streams on the Ozark side of Truman lake catching white bass in clear water. On that day the weather was a perfect 75 degrees with blue skies, light breeze and a sighting of the only bobcat I have ever seen in the wild.

Sons lives in Palmer. We do the salmon run every July. He's got good at knowing the river. Cheaper than hiring a guide. Comes down here normally in December and we fish Talquin. Pretty good trade-off don't you think!

I only got to fish it for a couple days, but my favorite place I’ve ever fished was a small creek (don’t know the name) with many deep pools that runs through honeybear camp ground in Boone NC. The creek was gorgeous. I was 14-15 years old. I just had an ultra lite ugly stick and a cheap spinning reel, but catching panfish and small NATIVE Brooke trout in that creek and climbing around on the rocks throwing ultralight baits at at the water was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. Hope to get back there some day.

My best salt water trip was just off the coast of GA near St Simons Island fishing for Reds with my life long friend, Tim...He would be the other 1/2 of TnT. He invited me to go one day in November in 2008 and the bite was off the chain. The slot limit on what we could keep was between 14 and 24 inches. The smallest one we caught that day was 35 inches and the largest was 47 inches. here is a pic of a double we caught.

It's really hard to say what the best fresh water lake would be. Talquin was my first love, but then I was introduced to the lakes on the St Johns River...Both are awesome fisheries!! Grenada in Mississippi is also an awesome lake and on my bucket list to go back to. Alabama River around Montgomery has also been good to me the few times I have been there. Lake Eufaula on the GA/AL line is a great lake. We are blessed to have so many great spots to crappie fish here in the southeast. Just wished the lakes in Mississippi were a little closer!!
