When I used to fish the docks at doctors inlet, around Whiteys fish camp for blue gills, I would be so deep I would put my crickets on the brim of my hat to keep them dry!

    LOL!!
I never did have any waders but my brother did and would fill them with water so he could go a little deeper. I loved to wade back then, you could catch a lot of fish that way. And I have been through nasty looking stuff just to get to that one spot. Had gators looking at me but never got close or let me get close to them. If you had a stringer of fish you had to worry about snakes. I always had the stringer tied loosely, just in case.

Might be a bit late to post to say caution on the St. Johns River.
if you are in the area please give the man some consideration.
He plans on completing his swim in 8 days.
    CONGRATULATIONS to him.
Thank you for posting this. He accomplished his goal and did the long swim in the Saint Johns river. I read in a article that they counted at least 38 alligators during his swim. Definitely a impressive swim.

Only 38? I figured it'd be more like 380 haha.

That's only the ones they saw. Many, many more they didn't see.
