    Default Orange Lake or Lochloosa?

I'm headed out Wednesday early to try for some specks. Can't make up my mind to try Orange or Lochloosa? Any recommendations?

    Couple of questions:
    1. Is there enough water to launch into Orange Lake at the Marjorie Rawlings ramp?
    2. Is there enough water to motor into Orange Lake via Cross Creek from Lochloosa?

    Thanks.

I'm not sure on the launching situation, but a couple of guys from Church yesterday were telling me they've been wearing them out at Orange.. 2 person limit twice last week with lots of culling

I have not heard of any boats being able to get between the lakes on the Cross Creek link except airboats in a long time. It would be nice to get through there but no one I know has done it in years. But then, I don't know everybody.

I fished Orange for the first time this year on Saturday (2/10/18). A friend and myself brought home a two-man limit, with the largest being 14 3/4". We threw back plenty too. All fish were caught on jigs under floats. There was plenty of water to launch at Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, and with water levels what they currently are, I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to traverse Cross Creek to get back and forth between Orange and Lochloosa. Having said that, I don't know if there are currently any obstructions or floating tussocks impeding travel in the Creek. It sounds like both Lochloosa and Orange are pretty good right now. I think it should only get better in the coming weeks.

Wanting to try Orange Lake. What was your successful jig-under-float rig (jig head size, plastic size/color, float size)?
Were you casting to outside of the pads or inside the pads?
I'm new to this crappie fishing & learning what works for some.
Thanks for your info & response.
