It's been quite a while since I've done much fishing, and longer than I have posted of my trips. Well I found the camera as Phil and I loaded up this morning and put it to use. For years I have either hunted or fished on Thanksgiving morning for a few hours, and sometimes I'm lucky enough to have company to share the time with. Today was one of those days. We didn't go far or keep any fish, and only fished for 3 hours. The weather was forecast for 80% chance of rain, and it didn't disappoint the weather man or us. We got rained on, to different degrees, about 6 times in the time we fished. Only once did we start to haul in the rods and call it done, only to have the rain quit when we were halfway done and put them back out and fish on a while longer. We ran 10 rods and of those, 4 were running 1/8 oz Roadrunners and regular ball head and held shorter than the 6 long rods with 1/16 oz. I believe the shorter, heavier lines did better than the long lines, and acid rain held the spot of best producer. The wind never got out of hand but was a factor for the last hour after the rain followed a different path that kept it in sight but away from us.
My guest today was a friend who has been a very big help with the "Housework" I've been doing for the past few months. His better half says that we're brothers from another mother, though he's 20 years my junior. An avid outdoorsman, he's a quick study learning the details of trolling the many rods I generally use. Few boats on the water or at the ramp gave us the run of the area we worked. We talked of about everything and just relaxed, enjoying the break in both of schedules that border on the insane. And along the way we even found a few fish. Nothing huge but several were respectable, and we would have had a good meal had we kept and cleaned. Total was about a dozen for sure, I think a few more maybe with a couple that would have crossed the 12" mark. I had it in mind to finish around 10AM so the women folk wouldnt give us too hard a time, then we both left our phones in the truck because of the rain. As luck would have it we did well. Put in close to 7 and tightened the transom straps at 2 minutes after 10. A little dumb luck doesn't hurt. One other trailer was at the ramp when we left, so it seems we weren't the only ones with the same schedule. I had a great time and as usual, can't wait for the next time I get to go. Here's a few pics of Phils and my trip today, and a few from a trip Ernie and I took 3 weeks ago. That was a very good day with over 35 fish having gone through the boat. I have been blessed with some very good friends to share my time with. Just need more time to share with them.
I hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving Holiday. Mine is off to a very good start. Thanks for taking the time to visit with my friends and I , and til next time.........Skeet

Don't you just love a good tradition? Happy Thanksgiving to you and that beautiful lady that puts up with you. I like that smile when you're holding fish.

I am glad that you got out and had some fun. I enjoyed your report. Thanks for posting. I hope you had a good Thanksgiving.
Looks like you had a good trip Thursday Tim, the first pic I even saw some blue sky. Not today, no sun just wind and drizzle cold too. Off the water early and all fish were returned to fight another day.

The first pic was from a different day. Ernie and I had a lot of fun and caught a lot of fish. It was one in the afternoon and I had eleven fish in the box, but no ambition to put them up. We took a few pics and gave them a pass, and that was almost a month ago. Spitting rain and breezy yesterday and we both commented on how perfect the weather was. Thanks for all the good comments and wishes guys, it was a very good day. Phil's better half brought a pan of homemade apple dumplings when they joined us for dinner. They're worth about a million bucks a piece! I need to learn to read the tag on the turkey better though. Long story short, we had a 22lb bird for 5 of us. Lots of leftovers.
