Smile What is the best crappie and bass lake in Florida right now?

I am planning on going to Florida next winter on a bass fishing trip.

We used to go to Lake Okechobee, but it has not been as good lately.

We are interested in catching bass and crappie.

What would be a great lake for us to go to next winter?

Kissimmee is my favorite for sure, I am going to stay longer in 2011. 31 days this year and the specks were just coming in the grass and it was cold.

Winning string of bass on the 31st of January was 33 lbs, all caught in less than 2 feet of water.

    Love the place

This was a bad season for all FL lakes. I vote for Talquin for bass and crappie. Crappie are just starting to turn on. I caught 4 that were 2lb plus. Pictures coming. Caught over 25, but I only keep 12"+. Threw the rest back. Belive in quality, not quanity.

Do you have a camper or do you rent a cabin?

I would vote Talquin, and the St. John's Lakes. These lakes churn out the biggest damn Crappie every year. You may want to consider Monroe, Woodruff, Dexter or Jessup. These are part of a beautiful chain off of the St. John's River. I also regularly hear about Kissimmee and Toho. You should start calling the bait stores around these lakes and find out which one sets up best for your timing.

    Good Luck!
