Default Taking a kid fishing / need advice

I will be bringing my 9 year old to Fla. at the end of March for a week. Intent is to find some good crappie/speck fishing. Its been toooooo long since I've been to Fla. fishing so I am in the dark. I would greatly appreciate advice as to where to go, what to expect etc. What lakes are not only good fishing, but relatively "user friendly" for someone hitting them for the first time? I would like a guide if possible for day #1 just to help lay out the methods, areas, etc. we should concentrate on. Ideally, I could identify a lake with good fishing as well as a good fishing camp with cabins for rent. Probably not possible, but I would love to re-create some of the times I spend with my Dad.

Thanks for any advice you have to offer.

Lake Talquin Lodge on Lale Talquin (in panhandle by Tallahasee) is hard to beat.
More in central Fl(by Deland) is Highland Park Fish Camp both have websites and about anything you could wish for.--shu

Taken a kid fishing is awesome, making memories that will last his lifetime. Call Lake Talquin Lodge, they have several guides that live at the lodge.

I have a condo on Talquin and would be glad to put you on some fish. Lodging, food, snacks. I fish from a fully rigged Ranger.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. Our trip was in doubt for a while but now it is back on. Will be heading down to Talquin this weekend for approx. a week with absolutely NO PLANs. Just now confirmed I could make the trip so the kid will learn a bit about winging it. May sleep in the truck a night or two. Wow, lot to do . . . . argh . . . . .
