I have had mixed results on my Capps and Coleman rig, but I do still believe in it. It is a power trolling rig that allows you to cover a lot of water fast, control the depth of your presentation accurately and fish in varied water conditions.
My version is more traditional to what I have seen in the videos on midwest crappie that the actual pro team of Capps and Coleman use. My line down to a three way swivel, then a 18" or so piece of line with an egg weight on it down to another swivel. Onto the three way swivel, and the bottom swivel i tie on hooks with 8 to 12 inch leaders of 4# line.
Here is a horrible ascii drawing. The Js being hooks, the 8s being swivels and the big O is the egg weight.

I hope to actually apply it on a good day to a larger body of water soon. Unfortunately I have been fishing smaller local lakes, and they aren't as keen to hit the C&C rig in those lakes. In the small lakes you find the fish, and fish them. trolling doesn't seem to payout as well as either dipping in the weeds or setting out slip floats on a spot you know they are holding too.

It's not magic! You have to keep showing up. That's why they call it fishin and not catchin. I think for me it is the thrill of going and not getting skunked. hahaha We all know that dem fish are in da lake . But where?
We have had that plenty of times if we get to the lake before during or after a front moving through we will get stumped,, The fronts and barometer have always had an efect on fishing for me on stick marsh area seems like they get lockjaw and unless you cast net or snag one in the belly they just dont want to bite.This is only my opioning of what has happened to us in the past but we have been on the lake with the barometer dropping and buetiful weathe and as soon as the wind or front moves though they just will not hit anything , then we give them a few days and go right back and they will be hitting..
I am like most people and we only go when we get the chance so it is tough to pick days by watching the barometer and fronts but thats what we have found..
Might be coincidence but thats what we have found fishing lakes in florida..

And on the caps and coleman rigs , we tie our own like tying a bait rig for the ocean where you would loop and twist in as many hooks as you want and put an egg sinker on the bottom I will see if I can find the rig and post a picture .Most of you might know what I am talking about just hard to explain without a picture..
here is a link for making the knots ;;

Gary;
I havent been overly scientific trying to figure this whole thing out......but like I said earlier, " I can usualy put a few on ice" .........I know they are there & I'll be back to try again asap.......
Have you been to C-23, or 24 lately?? I went to 23 last sat. with the ball & chain & we burned thru 5 dozen minnows in about 4 hrs.......caught about 25 - 30 but they were verry, verry small..........only 7 were over 10".........mainly fished around th 95 bridge..........
Rinse out the dang minner bucket:D
Thanks for the different makes of the C&C rig. Tried out a version of it yesterday at Trout Creek. Got a 14" female with it after dragging for about an hour. Couple other throw-backs. Was on the water about 4 1/2 hours. Others I talked to did about the same. Water temp was 56*.
