    Default Crappie Condos

I am going to start dropping Crappie Condos in Saddlebag Lake, I have ran my Sonar for hours without seeing very little bottom structure.

Being as the lake is pretty much void of any defined break lines except for a couple of points that very gradually taper into deeper water, where should I start?

I see a couple of choices, in the deepest parts, 35'-40' or out on the ends of these two points?

FYI There are no creek beds.

    Your opinions/suggestions?

    Thanks,
    VV

Retirement is wonderful. It's doing nothing without worrying about getting caught at it.

    WHO OWNS/ CONTROLS the lake????
You should check out who controls the lake and should ask permission to put structure in the lakes.
Some say it is easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission.

I am thinking of asking for permission to place structure in the Harris chain of lakes.

I have already taken care of that, but thank you for the thought.

I would start placing the condos near the ends of the points. Place three or four in a small group.
Are you going to make your own condos with 5 gallon buckets with cement and bamboo or pvc pipe or buy something like the porcupine ball condos ???

I'll make them like I did in Indiana, I'll form a hole in the ground, pour ready-mix, and then place sanded PVC into the ready-mix. PVC will probably be 5' long.

Biggest problem I have right now is where to place them when the bottom looks like the Sahara desert.

    thanks for the suggestion,

is the whole lake that flat? you tried getting a topo-map instead of just using your depth finder? sounds like there should be some kind of fluctuation in the bottom somewhere... but then again every lake is different i suppose
