    Default November slabfest Poll

Time to setup for the November slabfest.
Remember you can only vote once, but can vote for multiple choices
I MADE AN ERROR when listing the dates.
The date November 7, 2009 should be SATURDAY not Sunday
Last edited by flycaster; 10-08-2009 at 08:17 PM. Reason: correct error in date in poll

    Default November Slabfest

I voted - Lake Dora on Wednesday, 4 November. I'm flexible, but I think a mid-week event would be less stress launching boats, competing with weekend crowds, etc. Actually my life is pretty much tell me where to be and when to be there.

    Default Where is everyone?

I keep checking and I don't see any input or any more votes. I guess it will be a small crowd. The fishing may not be great, but it's good. I go everyday and always catch at least 7 and I'm back at the dock by 10am or 11am. Several in the 14" range. I guess everyone's waiting for sweater weather.

I keep checking also. Don't know what is keeping the masses from voting.

The voting is to get an idea of when and where. After Oct. 22 we will tabulate the votes and see where the most votes goes.
After we select a place we will post a list of items needed for a picnic.
Some people are still working and not able to take a day off in the middle of the week, but we are giving it an option.

I have never been to one of these, but my expectation is that we launch in the morning shortly before or just after first safe light. Prior to launch we may swap a little bs. We run out on the lake, and hopefully, stay as close as the fishing tactic de jour allows. If we end up parking or drifting minnows that allows for several boats to be in proximity. We head in around lunch and fry up the catch.

If I am way off, thats fine too. I work, have and have a young family (a 11 yr old, a 5 year old, and a 5 month old), so weekends are best. The hard part is selling my wife on giving this a try. I have a new baby too, so his care always flavors what we do as a family.

My fishing buddy is my father in law, and he pretty much taught me all I know of spec fishing.

This is what this group is all about.
I have to have my knee high boots with me at all times I am with this group of fine people.:D:D
We have fished out of Hickory Point once and we fished Lake Monroe three times.
We have two "certificates" that we pass at each slabfest, one is for the heaviest fish, the second is for the heaviest 7 fish.
Everyone contributes to the table fare, as I will post a list after the fishing place and date are set.

Well, I don't think I'll make it, so, don't feel like swaying the poll in any particular direction, etc.......
