My brother-in-law (don), well just call him "pontoon pappy" for now, will bring paper towels, drinking cups, ice tea, and ice for drinks. He'll also be bringing his outrageous bragging ability. I have to comunicate for him.. he doesn't believe in computers!
Went to Lake Monroe this morning to survey location.
We can use Chuck's facility to clean fish, but since he's on the dock, no cooking, etc. A new cabana at the Marina around behind the main building, but no water or electricity and a duck guano business could thrive there.
Newly constructed Fort Mellon facility has one small space next to children's playground at $15 per hour
Space at Senior's Center, where we were last year, is not available due to wedding - neither water nor electricity there.
Lake Monroe Park on the Volusia County side by the bridge - where we were at last slabfest - has space. Same cabana up by the main dock and facilities building. $16 for the day. Water is available by hose - probably 2 50' lengths. Electric is available at the cabana, but I complained that last year it blew a fuse or something and was not available - shoulder shrug with comment "there's electric there". Park opens at 7 am and $2 to launch.
Another option is to fish at the main marina, pass on the fish fry, and walk up to First Street and have a bite and adult beverage at one of the local establishments there. Guess that would be a 'modified slabfest'.
Myself, I go for the Lake Monroe Park location.

If we're voting...I vote for Lake Monroe Park where we last April. I think it worked out real well. Thanks for your work Chunky!
Mike
We will still fish Lake Monroe, have shelter near launch and good parking.
Only down side is that you will have to bring your minnows, as there is no bait shop locally.
WILL NOT BE BOTHERED WITH THE STREET PEOPLE!!:D:D
"Need to know so Don can reserve site.

You know I can't keep my 2 cents in my pocket, so here ya go. What is a Slabfest without having a fry? This, to me, is why we do it so everyone can enjoy it. Wives, children etc. Notice I did not say "homeless" unless I show up, since I am.
OK, back off the soap box.
A gun in hand is a lot better than a cop on the phone.
When I was at Lake Monroe Park on Monday I penciled in our name for the cabana - should go tomorrow - Wednesday - and pay - can probably put it off until Thursday if necessary.
Agree with Centerdriver - a slabfest is a fry - just trying to provide options to get this thing off the ground. I think as we go through this fishing season it's important to get our families involved - even if they don't fish.
