    Default New guy...

    Hello group,
Thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Ren and I just discovered this forum. Glad I did too as I'm new to Crappie fishing. About two months ago I was at Kissimee State Park and was fishing for bluegill with my children in the canal leading to the main lake. Woah, now we're talkin fun. The Black Crappie were all over the place and we had a blast catching them. All in all we must have ended up with about 40 from this little area under an aged ol' tree. We've been back there maybe four times already and have never been disappointed. Know I'd like to try them on a flyrod as I'm a Bamboo rod maker.
I would think that a six and a half to seven foot, 3 weight would be the way to go. Nothing very fast as knowing that their little fish lips tear easily, the rod will have to have some good give from the mid to the tip.
If anyone on the list has any ideas or preferences for rod actions for Crappie fishing, I'd sure love to hear about your preferences and why they are what they are.
    Thank you all,
    Ren

May want to go a bit more than a 3 weight. Sometime, dippin pads, you will get a big bass or a mudfish that will give you fits and may break a 3 wt....course depends on the line as well. May break off line before pole.....or at least I would hope so.

It may take a bit of putting all them together to get good info, but you will get it non the less. Check out one of our Fest. Good times, good people and good....no....great food.
