Hi all,
I have been looking through the crappie.com electronics posts trying to find the best GPS fishfinder combo. But I wanted to get some florida freshwater fishermans opinions. Because we have more vegetation than most any where and normally fish is depths far less than those northerns. I have a really hard time with my current sonar reading water less than 5 feet.
Please help me cause I want to buy a nice unit $700 or so and don't want to go off the reviews from a guy fishing on 20 to 30 feet of water on Kentucky Lake.
Thanks
I own a Humminbird 787c and have caught a pile with it,but I'm saving my coins ups for a new model, check this out http://humminbird.factoryoutletstore.com
.There is a factory outlet now.
I have a Lowrance M68C and it is the first combo I ever had. Pleased with it as to how it works, just wish it had a bigger screen.

A gun in hand is a lot better than a cop on the phone.
Thanks guys. I am definately going to check out that factory store.
Do you guys have any problems with saving hot spots and uploading new software?
You have to buy a cord for connection to your PC,but it is pretty cheap,I have close to 300 marked spots in about 30 fl lakes.Mostly just deep spots and holes in the lakes.Take a look at this weekends catch.Found them on the Fish Finder and circled them with the GPS the rest of the time.Life is good.

I've "NEVER" told a lie in my life ! ! !
I only fished from 7a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and caught 18,left because my battery went dead.Good day though, might try again this weekend.
I lived and fished in Fla for over 20 yrs. There is limited water where sonar is useful. We always fished the grass, cattails , pencil reeds , and hydrilla. The crappie were caught in the winter mo. in the grass. Most of Fla lakes are shallow and loaded with grass. A good GPS will be good. After a time you will learn the lakes and wont even need the GPS, You cant go wrong with Hummingbird or Lowrance . If you can scratch up $700.00 go ahead and splurge on the $1000.00 unit. You wont regret it.
