If you seen yesterday's post it was bad. Me and Phil headed back down today to try it again. Fared some what better today, kept 19 nice ones and two gills. Probably caught twice that many. Biggest was 2 lbs 4 ozs, and all but 3 or 4, were at least a pound and a half. I'm going to spend 15 minutes right now trying to post the picture. If it is not here, you will know I got frustrated (again).
That's some nice ones Glenn. Were they south and west or south and east? I'm going to hit St Johns this afternoon (weather permitting) and the pond tomorrow. I'll post results unless I'm embarrassed.
Glenn:
Congrats on being able to post pictures. Now that you have it mastered we should be seeing more pictures of your accomplishments.
Nice looking haul.
You need to come up to the Sat. Feb 28 gathering at Hickory Point on Lake Harris and show Phantom309 how it is done (catching a fine mess of slabs). I also wouldn't mind seeing how it is done.

They were south of the East/West ditch and on the west side of the lake. We would start in 5 feet of water which was probably 300-400 yards south of the East/West ditch and about 150 yards out from the West Bank. If we went any further south than that, we got into a few under water stumps and was occasionally getting hung up. The wind was from the south and southwest all day. We let the wind blow us north, back to the East/West ditch, pull them in and repeat. Did not catch a one north of the ditch. Also, if we got more than a quarter of mile out from the west bank, the bite quit. We were drifting Porter's Jigs tipped with minnows. Had our corks set at 5-6 feet, although we caught a few in the morning with them set at 4 feet. Stick Marsh Bait and Tackle in Fellsmere is back open under new management. They has nice sized minnows yesterday, 12 bucks for a half pound. Weather permitting, me and Phil will be down there in the morning.
I have nothing againist the socializing or fishing with new folks. Mapquest says it is 115 miles from Melbourne to Leesburg. To make the early launch time, I would probably have to get up at 2:30 AM. That is my problem. I worked the 4-Midnight shift for so many years, I don't do early to good. Even fishing here locally, I normally don't leave the house until about 7:00 AM. Any earlier then that, hurts my old, feeble body. Can't come spend the night, because we care for my 81 year old disabled mother-in-law, 24/7.
Thanks for the PM. Yeah, the weatherman says Monday won't be good for the pond. We managed to catch 22 good ones south of Lake Washington on the river today. I'll post the pic tomorrow. They were chasing minnows all over the bank and the only way we could catch them was using a minnow about a foot under a cork. Wouldn't bite deep and wouldn't hit a jig. Didn't launch till noon, so it was a pretty good day. Prolly be there again tomorrow.
Glenn, Phil, Rusty, Danny & others. I see you guys are still ruining all the good fishin holes we got around here...I've been doing my part to insure Obama has enough bailout money to give to the bank ceo's. Must be tuff trying to make it on 32 million a year....
I hope to get back in the game soon, maybe hit the pond or Washington in the next week or so.......Rusty, I dont remember the name of the bait shop on US1 there in Melborne..please drop it in one of your post. Thanks!!
Just wanted to drop in & see how yall were doing...hope all is well, & I look forward to seeing you on the water...
