Question Been getting enough rain??

Even though I am still here in Texas till october now, I am still keeping an eye out yalls way. Shu told me that Lake Harris was down even more. Real depressing news. Have been seeing a lot of rain over yalls way on radar (weatherbug) so was wondering if things are looking up again or not. What be the news???

Weather is off and on. We are getting a LOT more rain than last year around this time. Which is always a good sign. We live right on a canal between Lake Spivey and Henderson, and you can see the depletion over the past couple years for sure. However since spring we've been getting an increase in water levels, so maybe this summer will be a blessing. I know the last time we went to Harris a couple of the ramps we used to hit were just too low to even get the boat to float.

We're hoping a few nice close hurricanes decide to give us the rain we need.

I like to fish Lake Okeechobee so I keep notes on the water level. Last July 30 the lake was at 9.20. Today it is at 10.53. Five years ago it was at 14 ft. We still need a lot of rain.

Default Lake Level

We Have Been Getting Rain Most Afternoon. Mostly .1or .2 Up To Most Was About 1.6. Lake Level On Little Lake Harris Is Up Maybe 4-5 Inches.
Harris Chain Including All The Canals Etc Is A Large Area. Most Rains Have Been Localized And When They Seek To Level Over The Entire Chain The Level Has Not Changed Much. We Need Some Heavy General Rains Over The Area To Make Much Of A Difference In Levels. Sure Do Need At Least A 2 Foot Rise And 3 Would Be Better.

as per LCWA website:

Lake Eustis
8-03-2007 =60.31' -1.96'
7-22-2008 =60.52' -1.63'
avg=62.15'

Lake Harris
8-30-2007 =60.28'
7-22-2008 =60.5' -2'

So it looks like we have a little more water than last year, looking at the ramps i have to wonder.

Never got the brisket, it was centercut and $3.98/#, smallest was $25+, will keep looking for a sale.--shu

Default How I'm keepin an eye out

This is the web site I use to keep track of what is going on. I know there are others out there, but this is my go to site.
Just glad that almost everytime I tune into the weather channel, it shows yall getting rain. I know it is scattered, but it is also hopeful.

Intellicast - Atlantic Satellite in United States

Shu, go into a store like Publix and go ask one of the butchers in the back if they have any in the locker. Tell them you do NOT want a trimmed one, just a plain ol brisket. See what price they get. See if they will bring out a few to let you "bend/slap". and pick the one that is the easiest to do so. Most store butchers are real pleasant and accomodating.
We do not have Publix here. I go to either Albertson's, Kroger or Heb. Wally worlds do NOT employ butchers any more and have not in years. All they employ is guys to grind hamburger and put pre-packaged meat out in the coolers.
Oh, by the way, yall got a rain front moving down from the northwest. Good luck.

LCWA water levels as of 9-19-2008

Harris 61.66'= -.84'

Eustis 61.60'= -.54'

looks like Eustis came up a little and Harris also, it should be dry now for quite some time so what we have may be it.--shu

Default Just got a call.

I just got a call a bit ago from one of my buds down at the park. Said the canal is higher than it has been in 2 years and everyone (all both of them) who live there full time now have their boats back behind their place, instead of tied up down by the main canal. That is some really good news.
This lake (Conroe) was just about up to full pool after Ike, now they have let it drop dang near 18" back to where it was in the spring time. They better shut them gates before they get caught with a dry fall.
