Default Talk to me about Ocheesee Pond

In Jackson County. I fished it Saturday and what a unique place. I love it.
I've seen large quantities of BIG Brim come out of Ocheesee but I didn't get a bite. I don't think anybody caught much the 26th.
I can't believe that lake doesn't hold a wealth of crappie.
Anybody here fish this lake?

There are loads of fish there. Some very large ones. but as you can see, there are lots of places to look for them. Find some of the boat lanes thru the Cypress trees and find some of the deep water behind the forest. You're going to have to "learn" this lake to have much luck there. I haven't fished it for years. It does have a lot of crappie. They are probably shallow now. Explore the lake and don't get lost in those trees.

Angler - Ronnie's right. You can get your butt lost in there if you're not careful. I grew up in Jackson County and fished it during my younger years. The last several years have seen excessively low water levels so hopefully it is up now.

My experience was always the same in this pond. We would go into the main cypress swamp and fish all day. A really good day, with both of us in the boat fishing all day, would be 20 to 30 bream.......BIG BREAM. I can't ever remember loading the boat with them but what we caught would be really nice fish.

Give it another try and best of luck.

Oh I will fish it again and many times after that. I was so captivated by it that I wanted to sell the ranger and get a stump knocker. My kind of place for sure.
I went with a guy that had been a few times with someone that knows the lake well. I learned quick to keep them marked trees in sight.

It is a rather "fishy" looking pond, isn't it. Keep me posted on any future trips and, yes, keep those little tree tags in sight!!!!!
