with these small units like piranha and eagle's cuda,etc how clear are they with the lower pixel count's ...... looking for something small for on the jon boat I picked up and use just for shallow water ponds and pits

I got this one, and it is really nice even thought the screen is small. the image is pretty decent, and for around 70 bucks it is a great deal.

Garmin makes some nice portable ones that come with a carrying case. It even has a suction cup transducer for your KAYAK if you wish to use it on there. About 150 bucks i forget the model #, check out their Website.

The small inexpensive units are fine for telling you how deep the water is under the boat but are kinda iffy for anything else.

I use mine to find holes and structure.
