Default South Moon

Anyone have a report for the St. Johns around the South Moon Campground/Blue Creek area?

Default South Moon

We were there in February as a rainy cold front went through and we didn't do much, this was our first trip down there some of the experienced veterans did much better than us. We finally found some fish our last day there and we was able to bring a few fish home. Wanting to go back, just haven't made it back yet.

Thanks Bilko, I'll be down that way the first week in April and was hoping I could bring a few home too.

Default Fish Early

Fish from first light until sun gets up and you can catch nice specs on any fallen tree in the river.

Later in the day, try the Hwy 40 bridge in Astor. They are always there.

If you are there on the new moon you can catch bigger Shell crackers than specs if you can find the beds.

Thanks Danbo, do you think it would be worth the effort to troll any of the creeks?

Default Creeks

I never tried trolling the creeks but let me know how you do. I will be down there April 16 - 22.

I have troll the river just north of South Moon and did OK.

That's a pretty big lake to cross but if I have to I'll make the trip. Thanks for the advice.

My partner and I were there last week. Got a few just coming out of lake George in the pads close to Blue Creek.....jigs tipped with minnows. Nothing spectacular but a good trip.
