Need your suggestions for the November slabfest.
Will need someone to volunteer for coordinating at selected site.
If Hickory Point is the selected site I can coordinate there.
will be down there the 1st of November but not sure will have boat yet so guess will have to sit this one out, but willing to help anyway. I will be living at hickory hallow so just let me know.
I'm checking out some new places with facilities in addition to what we have. Trimble park, Lake Yale, Lake Holly and couple more in the Umatilla area. I know they have ramps, but I'm not sure about facilties. Hopefully I'll be able to post some photos and information about them by tomorrow.
I checked out several locations today and here is what I found; Palm Island Park... covered picnic tables, water, electric, large ramp plenty of parking. Access to Lake Dora, Beauclair, Carleton, and Horsehoe lakes. (Mt. Dora) Free, first come first serve basis. Park is open from sunrise to sunset. In my opinion, this would make a great location. Picture of ramp and picnic area attached. Gibert Park …across the street from Palm Island Park all accommodations, hourly rates apply and a $100. Deposit required. Kinda rules this one out, but we can walk across the street and use their bathrooms for nothing. Trimble Park….rude people! Less than 20 people, free use over 20, $50, water, electric, access to same lakes as Palm Island Park. Nice ramp. Park opens at 8am. Very nice park. Pictures attached. Marsh Park…nice ramp, uncovered tables, porta johns, no electric, no water, free. Access to Lake Yale, plenty of parking. Not that great for a fest. Guerrant Park… Lake Umatilla, nice ramp, one covered table, water but no electric, no bathrooms, plenty of parking, free. Lake Holly….. (Umatilla) nice ramp. Nothing else.
THANKS Specanator;
I think that discussion

would make a great site. We wouldn't have to worry about any fees, bathroom facilities and hope that the electrical outlets are in working order
If this is OK with the group all we need to do is get a date set up.
There was a discussion about having the slabfest in mid week.
NEED TO HEAR YOUR IDEAS. This is YOUR slabfest event so we need your input.
Also a discussion was started about the food and table supplies. Do we want to have someone appointed to do the shopping for ALL of the supplies and everyone pay a share of the costs, or do you want to continue with the past that everyone bring something from the list that I have been posting.
REMEMBER THIS IS YOUR EVENT SO YOUR VOICE IS HEARD LOUD AND CLEAR.
The full moon is Monday the 2nd. I'd like to see it happen anytime that week and my choice would be Hickory Park or Mt. Dora. I also think we should do the list as usual this time and maybe the group could make decicions on future fests when we meet this time.
I think the main ramp at Lake Havasu would be great. Lots of picnic tables with electric and hose hookup. Water level is up to normal. Temps are getting great for being outdoors.
and so forth and so on......................
