We ALL have stupid attacks, some are funnier than others.

I could see how he unhooked the boat trailer instead of the boat from the trailer. you get into a routine. Kind of like driving home from work everyday, you follow the same route. One day you need to deviate and swing by the store, although you forget and miss your turn. Distracted no doubt by a blonde, story on the radio, etc. It happens.

I don't know what comes over people at a boat ramp. One time I was launching and I took off all the straps at the top of the ramp and for some reason I decided to also unhook the boat from the winch. I get back in the truck and start backing it down the ramp and realized what I'd done. I E-V-E-R so gently put on the brakes all the while watching in the rear view mirror. It looked like it was going to hold, so I applied just a little more pressure to stop completely but that little bump was just enough of a jolt to start it off the trailer about 5' before the water started. All I could do was watch as the boat slid all the way off the trailer and "WHAM" right onto the ramp. Up until that day I had, had a dry boat. From that day on I've had a small leak that I'm pretty sure is from around the drain plug. Fortunately, I still had the motor tilted up.

First all, I'm guilty of doin some goofy stuff, not throwin' rocks...

but saw a good one this past wkend, I was standin by the boat ramp
talking to a nice man and his wife I'd just met... they were camped nearby,
and we ended up standing there under the shade tree as a older gent
launched a jetski. He got astraddle of it, and it just SLOOOOWLY rolled
over and dumped him in the drink, glasses and all. He went completely under.
He got back up and tried it at least two more times, with the same result
before I had to look away to keep from laughing (well, him SEEING me laugh)

I've never touched a jetski, don't know a thing about them, but we decided the thing must have had a
belly full of water, as low as it was sitting and as easy as it rolled over.
Started to ask the guy if I could help, but you know - a lot of times when
something like this is going on the guy is already mad and it's better off to
just stay outta the way

A buddy and I parted for Crystal Lake at 4:30am on brisk April morning. Heard the crappie bite was turning on after ice out. 2 hours later we arrive at the public access and apparently weren't the only ones to catch wind of a solid bite. We were 4th or 5th in line to launch. Not a big deal - we transferred the gear from the truck to the boat prepping the boat for launch. My buddy jumped back in the truck and I headed for the port-a-potty to relieve myself from the coffee on the ride up. While doing so I heard a host of screaming and yelling from the direction of the launch pad. Finished my business and stuck my head out the door to see what was going on......Turns out a someone had actually backed their rig in the water and UNHOOKED the trailer from their Suburban, then proceeded to pull out trailer less! The screaming voices heard were a pair of individuals next in line yelling at the Suburban to STOP! Worst of all there was dude in the boat - still tied down to the unhooked trailer in the water turning the engine over. We didn't stick around to see how they were going to remedy their small problem. Continued north to Lake Wisconsin for the day.

PS. Not everybody in the land of cheese lacks this much matter between the ears.
Last year I waited for a couple old(er) dudes to retrieve their boat. They were having issues as the launch was an unimproved launch w/ shallow water. They decided to go around to the paved launch on the other side of the lake. The boat was partially on the trailer and the one guy pops the latch on the trailer hitch! I hadn't got the whole " WATCH OUT" outa my mouth when the trailer tongue pops up and if not for the chains, woulda knocked the guy into the next county!!! What are people thinking???
