Smile The newbie and a stick

When I was a kid we used to fish a rocky stream, small but loaded with
12" smallies. One day 2 or 3 of us "ol pros" were gonna go there, when
another guy showed u p who had never fished. We told to come along
and learn. When we got there, nobody thought about him not having a
rod and reel. Remember we were kids so we each had one. So while my
rather arrogant buddy was fishing I told the newbie to go cut a small limb
off a tree. He brought over a limb and I trimmed it up so it was pretty
straight. Then I cut about 7 feet of line off my reel, tied to the end of the stick. Then I started digging thru my small tackle box and found an orange
and black feathered treble hook off a bigger lure. I tied it on his line and said
"just walk along the shore and flip it out". Away he went engrossed in this
new fishing stuff! Afew minutes later I heard a yell and he lifted a 12" smallie
onto the shore. My arrogant buddy said "I don't believe that!" I went over and unhooked the smallie and off went the newbie to catch more fish.
After 6 more smallies, the last one being over 15". My other buddy says "if
he catches one more fish, I'm throwing my tackle in the stream". You know what's coming! Yup, newbie catches the biggest smallie I ever saw out of
    that stream!
To my left I saw a tackle box fly through the air, followed by a rod and reel.
Arrogant buddy jumped in his car and away he went. As newbie and I were driving home, he says "that was fun, lets do that again.

Some days, ya just don't know what might work!!!!

Thats a good story! Shows how taking the simple approach is best sometimes- and you likely made a fisherman for life, too. Thanks for sharing.
    What?
