Running naked

Back in my younger years we did a lot of hand fishing or noddling for catfish which was very illegal at the time. We always fished naked, dressed only in sneakers, it was a safety thing so we couldn't get caught on limbs or rocks while diving under water trying to pull that catfish out of a hole. This particular day I was with my father and a friend whose name was James. Since the activty was illegal we were always on the watch for the local conservation agent or game warden. This day we had caught several fish and were trying to catch another when James stands up and says "What's that? It's the warden" and he takes off running through the water up the bank and into the woods. Dad and I release the fish and start laughing and throwing handfuls of water at one another. We return to our vehicle and James is not there? We wait for a couple of hours as it is getting dark, and return to James' house, he is over 40 years old and we tell his wife he took off and the story. We look for James the next day but no sign. For two days James runs through the countryside making his way back home naked, dodging roads, blackberry vines, fences bugs and critters. Calls us when he finally gets home and asks about the warden. We laugh until we are sick telling him there was nothing there just some critter! He didn't think it was so funny but the neighbors and his children still laugh about, it even today 30 years later. Funny watching an adult run naked through the woods!
