So my 2 hours of free time to fish was coming to a close... I had 5 nice crappie in the cooler and this guy walks up and asks me, "Doing any good?". My reply was basically, "yeah doing alright"... he looks in the cooler and says, "wow them some big fish... what are those?". I replied "those are crappie", and the guy looks me dead in the eye with a straight faced and says to me, "no wonder their big... all I ever catch are white perch... sure wish I could put some crappie in my cooler".
With that said I just grabbed my stuff and ent to the truck to head home. Didn't have the energy to explain to him.

Guess all regions have there own name for perch.Up in Mn. it was the true perch.Here in mo. a lot of people call all bluegills perch.I've never heard crappie called white perch till I joined this board

Here in Kansas White Perch are a nuisance species.

They were accidentally introduced into Wilson and Cheney Reservoirs as contaminants in fish stockings.

The white perch is a moron. Doubling rate of 4.5 to 14 years. Not sure it they are talking about the white perch we have around here.
