I'll never forget when my Grandfather showed up to the family re-union with both thumbs bandaged up in gauze. He explained that he had caught a northern. Somehow, as he reached for the fish flopping in the bottom of the boat, he managed to get one of his thumbs in the fishes mouth.
He then tried to pry the fishes mouth open, and you guessed it, got the other one in there!!
He managed to pry the mouth open, and freed one thumb. He reached for his pliers, stunned the pike a couple of times, and then used them to pry his mouth open and free his other thumb. As he is sitting there, looking at his thumbs bleed and start to swell, the Pike, now also free of the lure, raises on his tail, and clears the boat!!!!!
