Took both my kids in the boat on a motor restricted lake. 9.9 HP+17 1/2' boat=slow pace. Get 3 or more miles out to my favorite spot, pull out the rods from the locker and discover every single bit of tackle is still in the truck. An hour or so later when I had just retrieved and returned a storm blew in. Things happen to the best of us. I've seen old Bill dance do some dumb ones.

I've done alot of these things, forgot tackle, forgot trolling motor batteries, but the best was last winter. I was about 4 or 5 miles from the boat ramp with no cell phone service, and I let the smoke out of the big motor. Connecting rod came through the side of the block. This was right before dark about 5:30 and the trolling motor batteries were dead about 2 miles into the trip. I then used the starting battery on the 12v setting and did not get to the ramp until 11:00.

One winter day, sauger fishing below P'wick, fouled my plugs out, wouldn't
crank for spit - this happens just as the sun was setting - 25 deg. and
falling fast - abt. 10 miles DOWN river from the boat ramp. Before cell
phones, least round here. one boat passed, couldn't flag him down, but
don't think he could've pulled me anyway, the LAST boat on river besides
me, stopped and towed me back - two guys from up around Duck River TN-
We was all so cold when we got back, couldn't hardly hold keys to get 'em
in the truck door.... won't forget that one anytime soon

You are having a bad day when you are driving up the levee and you look in the mirror only to see your boat heading back DOWN the levee.

Not my story but they swear it happened:
You are having a bad day when you are driving down the highway to the lake and your boat passes you ! To hear them tell the story the boat passed them and actually crossed the road in front of them and hit the ditch. I don't know how a trailer you are pulling can come loose, accelerate, and pass you but that's the story. :-??

Chowan River and we had launched at Gatesville. Wind and rain came up very suddenly so we tied off on a staub sticking up in the middle of the creek (Goose Creek for those that know the area). The water kept rising and the wind kept blowing. When it finally died down we headed for the landing. When we got there, the pier was under water and the water was so high that I jumped overboard and pulled the boat to the trailer where it sat in the parking area. Didn't have to move it an inch. On the way home we had many detours due to trees across the road and many low areas flooded. We found out later that a tornado had come thru. The weather forcast for the day was clear and sunny. Boy did they blow that one.

Me and my son got caught in the rain this afternoon. A little rain, thunder, and lightning. Just got a little wet. Made it back to the truck and waited the rain out. I have had worse days.

A bad day is when you fish all day at one lake catch a few but would like to catch more. You load up drive thrity miles to another lake to fish. This is a private lake and I wanted to try it for the first time this year. Back the boat in unload only one on the lake you have to have a key to even get in the gate. Pull the boat over to the dock out in the water. Step off the front of the boat onto the dock with the rope in hand. As the boat pushes away from the dock the rope becomes intangled in hand. The boat pulled me right in the water head first 43 degrees. Climb up on the dock freezing and realize my cell phone is still in my pocket that sucks. Just happened four days ago. Needless to say I did not get to fish that lake, yet.

Crappie Xtreme's, reminded me of something that happened to me. I read an article on how to lauch your boat alone. You tie a rope to the bow eye and to the trailer so when you back in the boat slides off and you then pull up beaching the boat. Simple, just make sure your rope is heavy enough. Yep, backed in and the rope broke and there goes the boat. I did'nt want to get wet so i parked the truck and started walking to where the wind was blowing the boat. Well an hour later i got to go fishin and no i did'nt get skunked, so it was'nt a real bad day after all...izzy

You know you've had a bad day when:
You drive 65 miles one way to fish a crappie "hot spot", catch nothing, get to the launch then go back down the bayou to help two friends who seem to be having boat trouble and have to have them tow YOU in because you ran out of gas. Get back to the launch back the truck down, close and lock the door while the truck is still running, trailer is in the water, and boat is only half on the trailer. Have to pull the the top of the door out while your partner uses a small willow branch to try and roll down the electric window (this actually worked). This happened last week to my brother and myself (I locked the keys in his truck DUH!! ). But was a great day because we got to meet and fish with another crappie.com member.
