Another funny story

A friend and I were out on Lake Tobosofkee about 3 months ago fishing in the early hours of the a.m.
It hadn't quite broke daylight yet, but was still light enough to see to fish.
We were shooting docks, and not catching much.
There was a dock just up ahead of us on a point and I figured to give it a shot from about 30 yards away as we approached it.

Trying to get as close to the dock as I could, I had a bad cast which went up and over the dock long ways. Unknown to me, there was one of those albatross birds sitting asleep on the edge of that dock facing the open water. These are those very long neck birds that hang out at the lakes in our area.

You guessed it right, if you think I hooked him! What happened was the 6 lb. test went across it's back and it spooked him. When the bird became air born, I knew I had a problem. I had hoped the hook would just fall off of him and I'd have a good laugh. Too simple.... Oh no... as he flew off... the line pulled up across his back, and the hook decided to stick with him. So, for about 3 mins I had a flying Albatross pulling line out of my reel. I guess he was about a 100 foot above me, flying in circles. I finally got enough slack in the line to release the reel hoping he'd pull it all out and I could just add new line. That didn't happen either.

Finally, this big 'ole Cow bird landed across the lake with me in tow. He wandered around in some brush and got all tangled up with my fishing line wrapped around several areas of small brush and trees.

I pulled the boat up to the bank and got out , getting as close as I could to the bird who now was stuck and cut the line. Once I cut the line, very close to him... off he flew.

Biggest catch of the day by far. I couldn't get close enough to see where the hook got him, but it didn't interfere with his flying ability.

What a day, and the fishing was still awful that day.

Sounds like a blood warming ordeal.At least you got new line out of the deal,lol.
