Default Finally got back out for specks, pics

Well it has been a while since I have actually went after the crappies. Between 2 or 3 bass tournaments a week and training for my bike race I have not put time into fishing for specks so yesterday I set aside a couple hours for my true passion. What a great time I had. Not a ton of fish, several hard rains, and wind, but that is why I do it. I did manage to find them in 8-12 feet of water on a main lake hump that runs east and west for about 200 yards. They were all on the downstream side of the hump and willing to take just about anything in an orange and brown or orange and white combo that was less than 2 inches long.

Default Nice mess Frank!

Curious what the water temp was. I have been out a couple of times in the past couple of weeks and not fared well. Fish were all in deep water (40+ FOW) and wouldn't take anything. Water temp over here was 80 at the surface.

78 - 82 degree water. the deepest spots in the lake I was fishing are only in the 15 - 20 foot range so they could not get a whole lot deeper than where I was catching them. The deep water is basically feature less, though I have caught them suspended there in the past. They really seem to prefer the main lake hump to hang out during mid summer.
