I tried these setting some yesterday and I see some improvement, but I use the blue color and start to see white (not like white as rice or anything) showing up like I have my sens too high. Matter of fact when I first got the unit lots of people told me I had my sens too high.
I can't remember what the update did to the part dealing with sens/contrast and something else, but if I put sens on auto it seems to make the white I was speaking about above better. Anyway I liked having the thread that told a little about settings, but there are a lot more settings than sens and chart speed so would someone go into the rest of the story.
When I look at the SI Enhanced I have the sens on auto, the contrast at 8 and forget what is the last box, LOL! Dang it!
I think maybe it is getting closer to where I want it, but still unsure of these and don't know if any other settings make a big difference or not.
Any help would be appreciated.

Are you saying that the whole screen has a whited out tint or just spotted? My whole screen lightens when I run the trolling motor and I have been told it is interfernece between the sonar cable and trolling motor eventhough it did not do this with the previous trolling motor I had and no cables have been rerouted. I am going to move some cables around and see if this helps.

Not the whole screen, just starting to have lots of little tiny spots which I would expect if the bottom are hard maybe?
I know when I first got it it was like this an was told I had my sens too high, but heck I don't have a clue since I have not had an SI and only had Lowrance before this. I see people that have screen shots that clearly show fish when under the boat, but I have not been able to get a shot like that. I am sure you have seen these kind of shots, but let me put one here like I am talking about.

Now how do I get something like this...

All those white objects under tree limb on right of pict are fish, they always show as white. could be crappie or other pan fish do to football shape. Walleye be lots longer & narrow as are kitty cats. Could also be fish in center bottom but looks kinds unclear to me.
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.
yellowfin is a playback viewer. You view sidescan files with the playback on your computer, not on the unit screen.
When you record SI, the file that is saved is a .son file.
You take the .son file and use the HBSI file converter program. This HBSI convets the .SON file to a .872 file.
You then playback the recording on your pc with the yellowfin program.

YellowFin
This recording is Yellowfin playback (my 997). You can see the screen snow, but the HB noise mods fixed the screen hash. The mods also fixed the TM noise. I am pleased except for the GPS. I can get around the GPS. I just use the Garmin.![]()
I like fooling around with this stuff. I'm pretty good at it. Toot. Toot.
