    Default hot foot

Anyone ever install a hot foot? Do you need to buy a longer throttle cable, is this really difficult and I should hire someone to do it?

I have one, came on boat when I bought it. I think you will need a longer cable. Doesn't appear like it will be too complicated. Install a steering column mounted trim switch while you are at it.

I'm not the handiest fella in the world, but I've done my share of light rigging. Having said that, a hotfoot is one of the things I'd pay money to have done - and I'm a cheapskate to boot.

Just seems there's plenty to be done wrong - like cable binding and sticking at some point later when you don't want it too or even drilling a whole through your boat. Even past that though, I would want someone experienced with placement of the hotfoot.

Not that I'm sure you couldn't do it, I probably could myself, but that's a safety issue and I'd want to make double dang dog sure it was done by someone that know's what they're doing rather than guessing.

My current boat doesn't have one and I sure do miss it too.

Hot Foot is very easy to install. Just follow the simple and short instructions. You will likely have to have a new cable. I like my Hot Foot, but sometimes, on a long run down river I wish I had the lever back.

J White, I think I heard about that story when I was younger. You wouldn't happen to have been a traveling salesman back in the day and was a shotgun envolved?

Hah. not a salesman, but it's a wonder the shotgun didn't come out -
lucky I guess. Could tell some interesting stories, but if my wifey ever
read them, I might end up talking with a real high voice

I don't think a boat should be without one if you are going over 30 or 40...if you fall out or if you slip out of the seat or anything like that the boat stops...I know you have a kill switch lanyard but those are sometimes unhooked and if it fails the hot foot won't...its a mechanical thing not electronic...just good piece of mind...also easier to control boat in rough water...also helps on those cold days when your motor doesn't wanna wake up..lol

and yes a longer cable will be in order....unhook the one you have from the control box and measure to where you want the hotfoot to be...add that to your existing cable and you got it...normally a couple or few feet will do. good luck! and thumbs up on the t/t on the steering or even go with the blinker type control...this all said you ALWAYS have both hands on the wheel...just much safer.
