    Default 797 or 997?

Now you guys have me waiting out this GPS problem. I think I'll update a few other things on my rig before purchasing the SI. Hopefully, by then they'll have this GPS thing nailed.

I am thinking about getting a 797 myself. For the money difference, what does the 997 do or have that the 797 does not do or have?

997 has a bigger screen and more pixals. Which means a way better pic. I have the 797,wish I had the 997 but could not see droping another 1000 bucks. Am I happy with the 797???? Well not a 1000 bucks happy
would I do it again,,,not really
Smaller screen, hard to see in bright sun,not a very crisp picture. All add up to a 1000 buck semi mistake. But I will live with it and keep using it. Best thing is the maps on it and GPS. I fish Weiss alot and that lake can be a dangerous lake due to shallows and stumps. When I'm running the lake it will keep me in the river channel so I won't run aground

If you can get the 997. The bigger screen and better resolution are well worth the extra $$. I have the 997 and highly recommend it.

Why wait? The GPS fix will come. Go ahead an enjoy the features that the unit can provide. As soon as the update is available, you can download it to your unit and your ready to go.

Maybe. The fix may be more than just a download. In fact if you search here I beilieve there is speculation its going to take some hardware replacement that you will have to pay for. But i do now know first hand. Id check into it hard before I bought one though.
