Default Slow GPS HB-HB agrees to look at 8-28-08

On 8/28/08 a humminbird person stated that do to number of responses to posts of slow GPS on the Unofficial Si web site that it is clear that HB needs to look into these complaints/posts.

Can a MOD plse make this a sticky lest everybody forgets, maybe it will also serve as a reminder to any Hb people viewing this site --Thanks MOD your help is needed

You been reset to ZERO Jax. HB don't want to hear any more complaints. Told me to contact customer service. I guess I will call them every day. They got a little attitude by me over there. You know, the Yahoos on SI.

Guess I will have to call and post daily now.

I may be 200% wrong but I think them boogers( HB ) are working on it cause they have been caught with their britches down... They have a real safety issue with the GPS/MOB function-only way out is to fix GPS. Also they shout out about great customer support and their gals at customer service really seem to try, with what info they have, and having FINE Folks like us post the truth gotta be given a few HB boys a belly ach.(maybe?) But of course they don't want world to know they made a poo-poo. However I would think people interested in Cust satisfaction would at least say something about a future update by date? or ? that makes the GPS operator friendly. These ain't no fifty dollars units we are talking about, However the Garmin list $100-sale $79.oo can find waypoints generally within a few feet, AND ON FIRST TRY STRAIGHT TO SPOT.............OOPS sometimes I have to make 1 or 2 small turns on the way to...........

I called customer service again today. No one there knew what I was talking about (slow GPS response). I left my phone number. Said they would get back with me Tuesday. Did not say what year though.

You could be right. I seem get different answers from different customer supporters. They were very nice though.

    Hey Tom,
I hope that they get all this worked out before I can afford my unit. Was thinking the 797 would be enough but may save a little longer for the 997.

Save for the 997. It works fine. Just GPS is too slow for trolling or mapping out areas using the trolling grid.

I would not depend on the GPS on a dark night or in a heavy fog.

I have faith. They will eventually fix the problem. My priorities are prob different from HB.

I just ordered a 797 today. Are you saying I should take it back and get my money back when I receive it? I have been trying to save for this thing for a while. I have used a Gamin GPS for three years and it works great but I wanted the side view sonar.
Now I'm freaking out after reading this post.
