Hi everyone,
I need some advice on a new fishfinder. I can't go with a top of the line at this time, but would like to stay around 220.00 or less. I have been looking at the:
Eagle Easyfish 320c
Hummingbird 525 (not color screen)
Garmin 160c
or any one you could suggest.
Any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
Its not going on some 30,000.00 boat just a fishing kayak.(poe- mans boat)
Thanks, David
Any of the 3 would be good ones with my vote going to the Eagle but has a small screen. If black and white is not objectionable, check out the Eagle 480 or even the 320as well and compare the specs - transducer cone angle, pixel count and output power to the ones on your list.
Wannabe...
Wannabe...v2.0
A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
We have an Eagle Fishmark 320. Not sure if that's the same thing you're looking at. It's the only sounder we've ever had (had it over a year now). OVerall, it seems fine. We never seem to catch more with than without it, but we do a lot more casting to shore than sitting over brush piles.
I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else has ever done this experiment. We have the fish symbols turned on (instead of the arches). The other day, I had a 7-inch bluegill, and I reeled him up to the tip of the rod, and then stuck the rod straight down under the transducer about 5 ft. Nothing showed up on the screen. I wiggled him around and I could visually confirm that he was right below the transducer, but nada on the screen. Anyone got an explanation for that?
Thanks!
Eagle 480, Hard to beat in my book! Turn the fish symbol OFF. You can see everything, then.
I used the Eagle 320 for a while and it was a good unit. I recently upgraded to a Humminbird 717 and I love it. Although it is not color, it has a larger screen and GPS compatible. With shipping, it was right at $200. I ordered it from Hodges Marine Electronics - Marine FishFinders, GPS, VHF, Radars, and more!
I Love having A Crappie Day:D
Thanks everybody for your help. I have another question, after checking on some of the website you provided, is the Lowrance x67c and the Eagle Easyfish320c the same machine. They both look the same and have the same info?

The Humminbird 565 is a great graph with dual frequency and a high pixel count.
If I were looking for a good $200.00 graph I`d put this at the top of my list
I have a Fish-easy. El-cheapo. It works great and my boat goes 26.7 mph(GPS) and I get good resolution down to 100'. It was less than $100 at BPS.
About the only improvment I could ask for would be the GPS integrated on the screen and a screen very large. Like 6" or 8" wide with sumultaneous GPS/Fish finder on the screen and an easy way to track the fish spots.
But that's gonna be a Hi-dollar item. Too much for poor ol' me!
I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D
I have 2 of the Eagle fishmark 320's and they have worked flawlessly for me. Cabelos for $149.00.
