Getting rid of the foot control because of back problems. Have installed a hand control, but need an extension handle. Would appreciate recommendations on the best handle to buy. Thanks,
If this is what you need, i have it for sale. $30 plus shipping.

Here it is. The universal handle.Cabela's Tiller Extension Handles
I made that move right after I got my Tracker 5 years ago. I got this one with the universal joint and extendable handle.Cabela's -- HelmsMate™ Motor Extension Handle
I wouldn't trade this setup for all the F/C trolling motors on earth.

Luvjign- I'm not sure how this works with the ujoint. Do you have the handle in your hand all the time, does it stay fixed when you turn it loose or do you just lay it on the floor? May be foolish questions, but I have never seen one with a ujoint. thanks, chodie
Might take a look at this one Chodie. Kind of high, but I think it'd be worth it.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

The tiller handle is used for slow trolling only. You had a reason to wonder what happens to the handle when not in my hand. You may not can tell from the pic, but there's one of those little mini-bunji cords stretched between the two set of pole holders. The handle rests on it. This allows me have it right there whether it's two of us up front, or just me. I have a Bigfoot on-off switch on a moveable aluminum plate on the floor that is wired into the power cable. That's my on-off. I can steer the TM with two fingers most of the times, change speeds, turn to reverse and turn it in about 120 degrees in either direction all in one motion while bumping the on-off switch....or pull the continuous latch over the switch button for continuous power. It's not in the way at all with working the poles. And the grip socket that slips over the TM handle snugs up real nice and tight on the handle. No tool needed. On and off in a couple of seconds.
I added 3 more pedestal bases to the deck, and the Tite-Lok rack is mounted to an aluminum channel with a stainless 3/4'' pin that slips in the front base. When I want to jig fish, I just lift the pole holder rack assembly up, and take it to the back, and move my seat up to that base. Takes only a couple of minutes. Then, the trolling motor handle is right there....no reaching.
This may not be for most folks, but I will have this setup on any boat I own from now on. It just works for me.
I despise a F/C motor. I have full control of the H/C motor with this setup. The pic ain't real plain, but maybe you can see what I'm talking about.
