I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.
Guys.......try not to sweat is so bad. It is still fishing......it is still suppposed to be fun. Yes, the response time on our expensive toys is slow. And that does suck. But, if you have a SI unit and you can't find a brush pile you have been to before, then you need more help that an internet group or a training DVD can provide. You guys are freaking out. You house didn't burn down......your kids didn't get sick from it.........you didn't just lose your job or have a family member die.
We have some fancy toys. Try to be positive once in a while.
Again. Response time needs serious work. Until then I will adjust. But, I can go right back and find every thing I have marked. I don't know how you couldn't.
As for repeatable accuracy, don't forget that we are at war with two different nations. I truly hope that our government is randomizing things on GPS signals all day long. If it takes us two passes by an orange marker bouy............no big deal to me.

Like I said - if "close enough" is good enough for you, be happy and
enjoy.
I expect more for that kind of money.
My 10 year old Lowrance or cheap Etrex don't jump around like that,
and it is my my money, so if I want to be pi**ed, it's my business.
I found brushpiles BEFORE gps, and can again, though not as quick as with
a good one.

Its been a short path from the castle to the outhouse for HB on this site. I've got a 997 on the console interlinked to a 917 0n the bow and I generally like these units. The GPS is slow to update, but otherwise they have performed pretty well. I have used Garmin units, and I like their GPS functions, but I don't like their sonar as well. Lowrance used to set the standard, but they have a lot of issues now. I'm in a slow learning curve with the SI, and I enjoy fooling with it: still a lot of untapped territory there for me.
