Default hey Joby

heres were im at , i got the 1197 and love it, i went today and got the 997 for the front, can i link them together so i can use just one platinum card between the two and also share one gps antenna?
also how are you guys hooking the units to your computer downloading pics and downloads etc from humminbird, i think im operating the 1197 ok as far as fishing with it, but im lost when it comes to all the technical stuff.

heck farrrrrrr!!!!!! i just went out to hook it up, no trolling motor mount, 2000. and no trolling motor mount even the cheap ones have that...lol hmmmm doesnt look likelike i can use a hose clamp either way its designed..so now what called gander mountain and no trolling motor mounts in stock, he said most people mount them on the console, but i have a 1197 on the console.thought it would be a plus to have another unit up front. but may return it for something else i guess..dont like having to wait, ready to fish with it asap...lol

I wouldn't put a 997 up front. I had my first up there and didn't like it. Ended up with the 787 up front. I think they make a unit that has the same screen size as the 997 but without the Si feature. The interlink box just allows you to share GPS points bewteen the units as far as I know.

You might consider putting a Matrix 97 up front. It doesn't have SI but the same straight down sonar that's in the 997. Also with interlink, this set up works very well.

I just installed a 917C up front that operates off my US2. Think I'll like it.

The units will not share map information. The guys on the board are right.

The best way to download infomation is using a SD Card Reader. Install the card in the unit card reader slot to export waypoints out of the unit so you will have a backup. Then take the card out and put it into the sd card reader and save them on your computer. The same way with the snapshots. Just make sure in the unit you turn your snapshot feature on.
