Default Second guessing Humminbird.

Still looking at up front sonar screens. I noticed that only the 917c is the last of the big screen 7 inch that is listed on HB products page. I guess it is soon to be replaced by the 957c( when the production parts play out on the 917c). Looks like it is on its last run. Hate to spend a 1000 bucks on something that is doomed to obsolesce in such a short time. Humminbird probably keeping 917c as an active product to finish out the parts run.

I guess I am being pessimistic.

Probably just Realistic
Thats one of reasons I'm waiting til 09 models are interduced. What happened to Jody, never visits us anymore, I feel slighted...
Would still like to know about 09 Gps being within 1 meter, heard from another that its more then Humm, other units to have it also...

I personally believe the 1 meter range is hype. LAAS has that accuracy, not WAAS.

Here it is 2008 and no LAAS that I know of is functional. Read the accuracy report.

Local Area Augmentation System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also, WAAS is getting expanded into Mexico and Canada. I am sure the satellites
will get upgrades. Some Continental US areas prob are more accurate than others. Open spaces give better readings. Just like the cell phones, it is radio waves.

Well, well, talking about the 917 and there in left hand column is add by Goggle, &The nerds.net has it listed for $827.99. Me thinks they is dangling the carrot over Cane Pole's boat.

Ok

Tell the dealers the sonar salesmen need to go to sonar school. Salesman at Gander Mountain in Jackson didn't know how to turn the units on. My o my.

I don't care if they get it down to 1 inch accuracy, if it still takes a
minute and a half for the arrow to turn round after the boat completes
a 180 it ain't much good Ok, I exaggerate a LITTLE but you knows
whats I mean.

That want happen till we get new messengers in the sky. Start in 2014.

The present system was designed around 7.5 meter accuracy with 1 second pings. Only way to greatly improve is to replace present pings from sky with the new and improved (as seen on TV) pings.
