Having problems with the momentary switch on the foot pedal, it seems the contacts are intermittent. Has anyone ever replaced the momentary switch on their foot pedal?? Is it a hard one to do.

They are a pretty common and easy replacement. Call Jones Trolling Motor at 870 773 3474 and he can get you the parts and tell you how to do it.

I am the least mechanically inclined person I know....and I was able to take apart the back of the switch and see how the rubber boot & spring work. My rubber boot dry rotted and broke, causing the contact to not be made when I stepped down on the pedal. Replacement piece is like $2.

Just a warning though, it does take some patience and small fingers (neither of which I have) to do the job. My only suggestion is use a magnetized screwdriver for the small screws on the backside of the switch.

It may need a good spraying with electronic cleaner try that first. john

You can take bigfoot apart. It is a bell contact. The contacts usually corrode and you end up stomping the crap out of the switch to get contact.

Polish the contacts with brass brush (I use drill), coat with conductive grease.

It takes some force to take apart and put back together.

I usually disable the foot switch on the foot pedal and run a seperate (bigfoot) switch for motor on/off.

I gonna do this on my Minnkota autopilot "watusi bug" foot control. Just ain't got roundtuit.

This allows left/right with one foot and speed on/off with the other. Very easy to used and control boat with this arrangement.

Careful with contact cleaners. Some will melt plastic.
