does humminbird make a depth finder with same features as the 997 without the gps feature ,if so what model number is it thanks

All side imaging units have the gps feature. You really need GPS with side imaging. The reason being is that if you find a spot 200 feet on the right side of the boat you can move your cursor over to the spot and create a waypoint. Then go back with your GPS view and get on top of it.
