What does it show to make it the best?

Top fishing tackle and accessories: Southwick Associates recently polled 16,258 fishermen to find out which brands of tackle and accessories were the most popular for 2007.

Top electronics: Lowrance (55.5 percent of all radio or GPS and 35 percent of all fish finder purchases).

Best for straight 2D fish finder - Lowrance LCX models in color

Best Side Imaging - Ummm H'bird - no other game in town, but it is spectacular none the less

Best straight GPS function - Garmin

Best value in Black and White - Eagle 320 in the $150 flavor or 480 in the $200 flavor.

Perfect set up - no compromises would be:

Lowrance LCX113HD at the helm with transom ducer - $2,349

H'bird 1197C SI at the helm - $2,589

Lowrance LCX113 at the bow with TM ducer - $1,909

Garmin GPSMAP 76CSx handheld for back up - $400.

Now, throw in another $1,000 for networking the Lowrance units, Map chips, Ram Mounts for all, Software and chips.

Total package - $8,247. Hey, I said no compromises. Oh, what the hey, why not go ahead and mount an Eagle 480 on the back deck to give my partner something to watch while he fishes. What's another 2 Benjamins.

What does it show? Depth, temp, contour, bottom hardness, brush, stumps trees, drops etc. In addition, the GPS will show you contour lines and points of interest.

I have a 520c up front with a 28c on the dash all networked with the external GPS mounted in the back. Nuff for me!!!!!

Got a HB 797si on the rear end and a 727 on the troll motor, all works great, for about $1200.

any of the 3 sideimaging units from humminbird will change your fishing life as you know it. But be prepared to write a big check.

In this case, the most expensive would be the best. This thing looks like a flat screen TV sitting on your boat. If you night fish, no need to bring the lights, just swing the 1197 around and tilt it down a little.:D It should do the job.
