Guys. My new trolling motor works great...and until last weekend everything was fine. Then I noticed one day that the direction arrow was not pointing in the same direction as I was going. If I go perfectly straight the arrow points straight left. The picture attached is from my vantage point with the boat going in a straight line..yet look at the arrow...it pointing straight left. I have on idea how this happened. Can anyone advise on how to fix this? I dont wanna break anything so I havent messed with it.
If i remember correctly you can lift up the arrow slightly thne turn it to the correct direction.

I don't have the same year, and it does it often. I press down lightly on the arrow and adjust it, no big deal. Mine needs adjusting now, just haven't done it.
Hope this helps.

pull the top off and pull the small gear up and reposition it
Remove the 3 screws holding the top of the unit down. Carefully lift the top so that the intermeshed gears clear. Rotate the arrow where it should be and carfully replace the top. I just fixed my brother-in-laws a couple of months ago. I have the same TM on my boat. I've never tried Crappie Cowboy's idea. It might work too. I might try it when I get off the boat Tuesday.

I guess the obvious question after reading the solution is if it takes this kind of surgery to fix it...how in the heck did it get out of whack so easily to start with??
Never needed an arrow to follow.
just turn the arrow to match mine does it now and then never took nothing apart just turn thr arrow

My trolling motor is an older model and it also does this. Finally got tired of readjusting it and gave up on it. I have now learned to look at the foot pedal instead to see where I'm going. Example, tilted back to me and it's pointed left. Tilted away from me and it's going right. In the flat position and it's going straight ahead. After just a little while of steering this you should be able to manuaver with the same ease as when you were looking at that lazy arrow. A lot of the time I just steer by feel and never look down.
Just my thoughts! Good fishing to you!
