Anyone use this unit and if so how does it work? Good or are you displeased. Im looking for a portable unit that I can use on my canoe. Is the side imaging feature worth the extra money in this unit? Any feedback would be appreciated.
Fish, i too use a canoe and was looking into one. I found something better that you can use with any fishfinder. You mount the ducer and finder on one bracket. Ill take a pic when i get home and post it.
Thanks EZ! I have done nothing to this canoe except make some stabelizers for it out of some Crab pot boueys but want to start using it more and want to rig it for more comfort and convienience. Last time I fished out of it it seemed like a cluster muck mess when I got all mu stuff in it. I also made a cart for it to make it easier to get to the water. So I getting there. All I need is some easier way of getting it on top the Suburban. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Fishcrazy I don't know if they still make them, but sometime ago I saw a pole like devise that you mount to the back bumper. To load a canoe you lift one end attach it to the pole then pick up the other end and pivot it around to the roof rack. Maybe you can come up with something home made that would work like that. just a thought.
smiles are contagious, spread them around
Ive seen those wannabe. They still make them. In fact several different ones. I been trying to convince the wife that it would be excellent exercise but she aint goin for it YET. Im workin on that one still. I have seen some units that will actually cable the canoe up to the top of the car but they cost more than a real boat.lmao I think that a small trailer would be the ticket.
Fish here are some photos for ya.

Thats a real nice looking setup you got there EZ, Got any other good ideas about rigging the boat for comfort. Im thinking seats with backs that swivel maybe. Think that would work in a canoe? Also want to rig some rod holders and some anchor hardware off the front and rear. Appreciate any suggestions from your experience. I have only used the canoe a few times.
As for seats look into http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...l&N=4887&Nty=1
Canoes dont realy have enough room on there seats to alow a swivel. Canoes are ment to be paddled while on your knees. The do make a great fishing platform though, Once you get out riggers "you can stand up" put on a trolling motor, small ancor system your good to go.
