Went out to order my 898c from J&H and found their prices to be the same as BPS, Gander MTN and all others?? What has happened they were always a couple hundred less than the rest??? Very disapointed....
I was told that Johnson (Humminbird and Minnkota parent company) sent a memo to all it's retailers, that they were to stop selling under the msrp or else!

how can they tell someone what to sell for? that is a load of crap.
Which J&H? J&H tackle or J&H Products.
If you're referring to J&H Products, they have a note in red, above the price, that requests you call them or send them an email for the price, even though they show 'their price' on the same page.

They can't. But they can tell them what to advertise it for. Especially if the big retailers such as BPS, Cabelas, Gander Mtn., etc, do some complaining about it. Just give J & H a call as their ad requests you to do.
A side note: There are merchants out there right now asking hundreds of $$ more for a 997c SI than I paid for my 998c SI. Think they'll get it? They must think so.![]()
St. Croix rods told me what to sell them for when I had a bait and tackle shop. The saleman warned me that if we posted a lower price. St Croix would close our account and not sell to us anymore.
Another local shop in our area did not heed this warning and lost his account with St. Croix. He never got it back. Since they were a good seller for me I never tested the issue.
Every once in awhile I would get a special sales flyer from St Croix. Even in them they let you know the lowest price you could sell at.
