Thread: difference in 997 & 998

Other than the down imaging, what will be the difference between the 2009 HB 997s and the 2010 HB 998si? Also, other than the down imaging, what will be the difference between the 2009 798si and the 2010 898si? Thx jtb

The info I found was in this section ( Fishing electronics and trolling motors ). It Took me a while to find it and I did'nt mark it. From what I read the newer models will have more memory. I also read in yahoo side imaging group that the 998 will have a 1 inch bigger screen. Maybe Hummingbird Greg can chime in and help out with more info

The 1197’s will still be produced through the 2010 model year, so I doubt that you will see them on sale.

Differences in the 997c Si and 998c Si:
* Faster processor
* Video Out port
* Ethernet port
* ContourXD base map

Changes that will come with the 998c Si but can be added to the 997c Si units with a software update:
* SwitchFire (this is the renamed TVG menu)
* LakeMaster map card compatibility along with their special features
* Waypoint Management System

Thanks crappiekiller2. The reason I was asking about the changes is I was wondering whether to get the 997 or wait for the 998. So if the ubdates on the 998 will be an available download for the 997, it doesnt really matter which one a man gets because they will basically be the same deal. Is this correct? Now all I need to do is get the wife to go along with it. Ha, wish me luck. I'll probabally be waiting till after Christmas.jtb

if the video out port, different maps and faster processor is not needed, buy the 997 and save some money. Cabelas have them marked down to 1499 and they have 30 off 150 right now.
