    Default hint

If your are buying new, don't waste your money on NVB. The maps suck. Others will also tell you this.

It's the same for any of our units that have two card slots. So yes its the same for the 997 units.

Does this mean if I buy a 1197 without the NVB bundle....the "unit" is exactly the same...just no NVB chip...?

    Yes.
Some still prefer the NVB bundle units – especially the salt water guys as these charts have not changed much since the NVB units were introduced. In either version you can still use a Navionics (and soon to come LakeMaster) mapping card.

NVB uses internal memory. Doesn't require a sd card. Get your area Navionics Hot Spots premium sd maps.

I got NVB and Billbob has hot spot premium. Big difference.

My personal observation on the maps. They gonna get yo money either way.

Does the Di sonar frequency setting has to be set on the 455kHz setting in order for the Di to work properly...??

    So using your quote above.....

And this quote from Greg in the thread "settings on the 1197si'..

There are separate elements inside the transducers for the 2D and Si sonar (the Di sonar will come from the Si data so it uses the same ones as the Si sonar does). You can set the 2D sonar frequency separately from the Si sonar frequency.

Can I assume that the sonar frequency setting for the Si has to be set on 455kHz for the Di and the Si to work in 'split screen' mode...??

I don't have this software but it sure sounds that way rnvinc.
We will know for sure when the software gets released or the new 998c Si or 898c Si units start rolling off the assembly line.
