software updates on it are behind us. Love technology

But I guess I'd go for a 798 or 998 if and when mine goes out for good.
I had the same problem with the locking up. Humminbird sent me a new power cord and hasn't happened since. Other than that I love my 997. Owned it since January and found at least 200 productive spots. None of them on my home lake.

So...when will these models actually be on the market......??

What will the better processors do that the upcoming software updates don't do...??

As I understand it, the new units (998 and 898) will ship after the turn of the new year.

There is no 1198 being released at this time. The 1197 remains the flagship of the Humminbird Side Imaging fishing system family.

Default Hb Si

Just to confuse things a little more......This morning I found out that Cabelas has the 997SI Combo on sale of 1500. The normal price is 2000. But now I'm wondering if the difference in the 998 available in 2010 is really internally different than the 997. I understood the down image will be a software update. Guess I need to do some more digging.

My understanding basically is processor speed difference I may be wrong but if thats the only difference I would jump on the discounted price of the 997 just my opinion unless the processor speed is significant I cannot justify the price difference

Don’t know a lot of the minute details but I do know that the 998 will be using a different PCB inside it versus the 997 units.
