They would be the same as the 1197 units we built in 2009 plus the software differences (once they are released) like Down Imaging, SwitchFire, Waypoint Management, LakeMaster mapping card capabilities and the ContourXD maps. No electrical component or PCB changes are going to be made. Basically it’s the same unit with the new software additions.

This link should take you to the 1197 product page on the Humminbird web site:

Just wanted to thank everyone who provided info for this topic. This past week I got my 997 SI from Cabelas. Now I'm on to figuring out the best mounting and wiring method. Thanks again to all.

I agree about the backlog CP.....but maybe the 'powers that be' at HB pick ideas by "benefits to the fisherman" instead of "1st come 1st serve".....

It might be interesting to some at C.com to know how to read the serial number on their unit to know exactly when their unit was built.....

This was copied from the Unofficial hummingbird forum....( not by a HB rep, but I hope the statement will be corrected by a HB rep if need be)...

The serial number on the unit indicates when the unit was made.

Example: 8030305-0046 would be a unit produced in 2008, March (3rd month), 3 (third day) on production line #5 and was the 46th unit produced that day.

I will be using this info when I buy my unit ....just my OCD thinking again....
