Well wasn't out fishing yesterday but was on the water duck hunting. So the time to quit came and I had to use the oars to pick up the decoys. Now today this old body is sore, so tomorrow it's time to take a trip to the store to get a motor. I have a 14 ft Gruman semi-v what size would be sufficient to move the boat? There are no weeds in the lake. Will be trying to maneuver in winds up to 20 mph. The motor will be mounted on the transom. Plus I'll use it in the spring again for crappie and walleyes.
For 20 mph winds I would go with a 55 lb. It would work a lot better if you can put it on the bow. Just turn the head 180°

I have a 55lb thrust Minn Kota on my 14' Collins Craft. I don't duck hunt, but I do get in some pretty aggressive winds. It does well. My suggestion is to get a good solid mount for your motor. On high, mine pulls like a Jack mule. It will try to torque itself loose if you're not careful.
Quit complaining about the color, just pull up your skirt and fish! -- snagged
