Hold the top two buttons (increase and decrease speeds) for one second. If you hear one beep - the remote is in silent operation, two beeps the remote will beep when you hit your buttons, three beeps same as two, but the trolling motor will click about every second telling you it is on. Everytime you hold both buttons down, you will change modes

Forgot to mention that you have to have your trolling motor plugged in for your remote to change modes.
