Humminbird?
Can I use thiss new device to connect my HB (NMEA out) to my Lowrance NMEA2000 bus for GPS? Sure would solve a lot of buss issues between the two devices.
Just checkin it out and make all aware of this device.

CP,
This is the same device that another Humminbird owner asked me about more than two years ago. I did not know than and I don’t know now if it would work or not and asked him to let me know either way if he bought and tried one. I never heard back from him. I’ve had unconfirmed reports that it will: “my friend’s son-in-law says he knows someone who says it works”, sort of deal. Why not try it out for everyone here. I know you will give us feedback one way or another!

Lowrance runs a Nema 2000 system and Humminbird runs Nema 0183. Humminbird units are not Nema 2000 compatible.

That’s why he wants to use this device. They claim it to be an NMEA 0183 to 2000 (and 2000 to 0183) converter.
Try it and let us know how it works CP.

One more question. Does Humminbird ever plan on going to NMEA 2000? Be nice to be able to monitor my E-Tec with the units.
Also If I can get Tom to help me this week. I'm going to see if I have a ground Issue causing all the problems with the Matrix and the Terrova. If thats the issue. Fixing it for me is better then the filter ideal.
Also Tom try this deal out and let us know if it works. Shoot I would pitch in $10 toward the price and I'm sure others would also do this. To find out for sure if it works or not.

I don't know if we will ever use the NMEA 2000 protocol or not. It has pretty much been by-passed by Ethernet connection capability now and did not bring the stability and inconnectivity between different manufacturer's products that it was hoped for.

CP,
I finally found the message about this "gateway" device. It was from a "Tom" that lives in Birmingham, AL (not you is it?). He stated that he tried it and it worked. So there you go, someone about two years ago tried this device and it worked.

Strange. I just researched this particular device and it is not available as of yet. Beta testing (so they claim).
I emailed the manufacturing company and asked lots of questions.
Maybe they will fill in the blanks.
Version 1 may have been a flop.

Sounds like democrats in the woodpile somewhere.

Not to dispute you Mr Greg, but I believe Raymarine, Garmin, Lowrance and Simrad are NMEA 2000 protocol now?????????
